While nasal bumps may add character to your appearance, they can also be the reason you feel self-conscious. Your nose is your most prominent facial asset and its function and aesthetics can have a big impact on your daily life.
Bumpy, hooked noses are one of the most common concerns among rhinoplasty patients. Unlike traditional rhinoplasty surgery which focuses on the reduction of cartilage, tissue, and bone, preservation rhinoplasty aims to do just the opposite. Those seeking the coveted non-operated look will benefit from Dr. Bader's advanced surgical techniques that reduce the height of the nose bridge (nasal dorsum) without altering the patient's dorsal lines. The result? A more natural appearance and quicker recovery time.
Dr. Bader defines his surgical approach and technique based on your nasal and aesthetic goals. During a preservation rhinoplasty procedure, he often opts for a closed approach. This is the best approach when treating tip deformities, over projected noses, and when minimal modification is required. If the surgery requires a more complex approach, Dr. Bader opts for the open approach.
From the moment you step foot inside our Plano office, Dr. Bader and his team of medical staff cater to your individual needs. Preparing for surgery can feel daunting especially when it requires a pre-procedure plan but with clear instructions and expert guidance, all you need to worry about is enjoying your new nose.
Dr. Bader is one of the few facial plastic surgeons in the country who is an expert in preservation rhinoplasty. This procedure preserves the dorsum including the thin layers of lymphatic and blood-rich tissue which reduces swelling and bruising and therefore the downtime involved after surgery. This also minimizes the need for revision rhinoplasty.
If you are a Plano resident or are traveling from out of state, it is important to fully understand the before, during, and after of your preservation rhinoplasty procedure.
Each patient is different and everyone’s recovery process varies slightly. However, Dr. Bader’s patients can expect to embrace their daily life within 2 weeks post-surgery. Yet, physical exertion must be avoided during the first month. It is normal for swelling and bruising to affect the eye and nose area for the first few days. This will gradually decrease over time.
It is normal to experience pain, swelling, and bruising in the initial stages of recovery. These will go down over time. The first six weeks are a crucial time on your recovery journey. Bed rest is mandatory for the first week and nasal drip pads are recommended for the first days to manage any bleeding. You will also be required to treat your nose with saline solution, a treatment required for the first few months. After the first week, Dr. Bader will schedule a follow-up consultation to ensure your nose is healing correctly. Expect to be back on your feet after 2 weeks with results showing around 3-6 months post surgery. Full and final results can be enjoyed 12 months post-surgery when the area is fully healed.
