Achieve the Nose You've Always Wanted

At Bader Facial Plastics, we understand the importance of feeling comfortable and confident in your surgeon’s hands. If your previous rhinoplasty surgery didn’t go to plan, it is normal that you may be feeling apprehensive and anxious about undergoing another surgery. Double-board-certified Dr. Bader specializes in revision rhinoplasty, helping hundreds of patients from Plano, Dallas, and across the USA restore not just their appearance, but their self-esteem.

Profile of a woman with freckles

Revision rhinoplasty surgery, also known as secondary rhinoplasty, is one of the most common procedures at Bader Facial Plastics. Yet, it is also one of the most complex aesthetic surgeries. This is why it is important to select a revision rhinoplasty specialist who is well-versed in the intricacies of nasal anatomy. Dr. Bader’s extensive expertise and precision in revision rhinoplasties places him among the elite facial plastic surgeons in the country.

What Is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is a corrective procedure that addresses unsatisfactory aesthetic and functional results from a previous rhinoplasty procedure. You may be considering this surgery to refine the appearance of your nose or simply to enhance your breathing. Since your nose is your most prominent facial feature, it is crucial that you are happy with how it functions and looks. You may feel that after surgery your nose still feels too big, over-projected, crooked, or has an unsightly bump. Making surgical adjustments to your nasal structure, bones, and cartilage, Dr. Bader routinely delivers optimum results; ones that you wish you had the first time around.

Revision Rhinoplasty Before & Afters

Revision Rhinoplasty Treats…

If you have already undergone rhinoplasty surgery but your nose still doesn’t reflect what you had in mind, a revision rhinoplasty can further enhance your facial profile. This surgery can rectify the following nasal concerns.

Scooped Out Nose

Many men who have previously had a rhinoplasty often find that the bridge of the nose has an overly reduced, scooped-out appearance leading to a less masculine or imbalanced facial profile. Using advanced techniques that add volume, correct irregularities, and achieve a balanced, refined appearance, Dr. Bader restores a strong, natural-looking nasal structure that complements a masculine face.

Pollybeak Deformity

Oftentimes post-surgery, the bridge of the nose can appear too full or rounded, often creating a drooping, beak-like appearance. This is known as Pollybeak Deformity and can be caused by Insufficient support to the nasal tip, excessive scar tissue, or inadequate removal of cartilage or bone during the initial surgery. The result? A nose that looks heavy, uneven, or not in harmony with the rest of the face.

Collapsed Tip Cartilage

A pinched, droopy nose is the result of a collapsed tip cartilage, something that occurs when too much nasal cartilage is removed during a primary rhinoplasty. This causes the tip of the nose to appear asymmetrical, overly narrow, or seem to collapse inward. While it may seem like an aesthetic issue, it can also cause important breathing difficulties.

Nasal Tip Issues

A primary rhinoplasty procedure may have been chosen to address a nasal bump but, sometimes by fixing one issue, another arises. An over-projected tip refers to when the tip of the nose extends too far from the face. This can be caused by excessive cartilage or an overly aggressive attempt to refine the nose during the initial surgery, leading to a nose that appears too long, pointy, or out of harmony with the rest of the facial features.

Dr. Bader’s Revision Rhinoplasty Procedure in Plano, Texas

We understand your fear of going through this process again, which is why we prioritize transparency, communication, and care. While each revision rhinoplasty is a highly personalized procedure, it will follow this typical timeline.

1

Initial Consultation

During your revision rhinoplasty consultation, Dr. Bader will take time to discuss your medical history, concerns about your appearance, and your aesthetic goals. This is an open, honest, and safe space where Dr. Bader will present you with options and create a procedure plan that caters to your case.

2

Pre-Surgery Preparation

Blood work and pre-surgery tests may be requested by Dr. Bader ahead of the procedure. Since you will undergo a general anesthetic, smoking, alcohol, and certain medications are best avoided two weeks before your revision rhinoplasty in order to minimize risks and complications.

3

Out-of-Town Patient Arrival

Traveling to Bader Facial Plastics from outside of Plano? Dr. Bader recommends arriving 1-2 days before your scheduled surgery to best acclimatize before the big day.

4

Day Before Surgery

Patients must attend a pre-surgery appointment to review instructions and address any last-minute concerns before entering the operating room.

5

Day of Surgery

Normally, a revision rhinoplasty procedure can last between 2-3.5 hours depending on the work required. During this time you will be under a general anesthetic in our state-of-the-art medical facility that caters to one patient at a time. Depending on your needs Dr. Bader may opt for an open or closed approach. He may also correct the framework of the nose using cartilage grafts to recreate the appearance of an unoperated nose. It is essential that someone accompanies you at home and assists you during the first night.

6

Post-Surgery Follow-Up

During the initial stages post-surgery, the bruising and swelling will be at their worst but this will calm down over the following weeks. Your head will need to be placed in an elevated position during the first days and full rest is required. After the first week, Dr. Bader will assess the recovery process and answer any questions during a follow-up appointment.

7

Travel Post Surgery

If you are an out-of-town patient, it is advised to remain in Plano, Texas for at least a week post-surgery to ensure optimum results.

8

Social Readiness

While the recovery process varies from patient to patient, you can expect to return to your daily activities after 2 weeks. However physical exertion and exercise must be avoided during the first month.

So pleased with my revision. I spent 2 years observing the results and researching doctors across the US and Europe, and chose him. My advice: Choose a doctor that always shows each angle of his finished noses. Don't choose doctors that show anything less! Pay attention to lighting in the photos too. Choose a doctor who specializes in noses. They are intricate and important not only to your aesthetics but also your breathing. Don't compromise your beauty or your breathing with a good doctor. Save / wait for a great doctor. Dr. Bader and his staff exceeded every expectation. My surgery and aftercare were professional and seamless. I would recommend him to anyone who is having a primary or revision. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Went yesterday for a revision rhinoplasty consultation. Excellent experience! The staff was all very friendly & helpful. Amanda has been a joy to work with during the entire process. I researched several doctors over the past maybe 6-8 months before scheduling my consultation with Dr. Bader. Very excited to have a revision done in the future by him!

Dr. Bader changed my life!! For the better! I was so insecure and sad with my previous results with a Dr in Mexico(crooked, upturned, ect). I honestly didn't think anyone could make it better until i found him. At consultation he explained how he could improve it and was very honest about it, and his staff was very friendly and they made you feel comfortable. I always feel like Drs rush and dont hear you out completely, but it was different here. I made sure to explain all my questions and concerns so many times and they heard me out, explained the whole process and made me feel like i was in the best hands! My results are exactly what i wanted!

Am I good Candidate

Am I A Good Candidate For Revision Rhinoplasty?

If you are looking to have another rhinoplasty, schedule a consultation to discuss your revision surgery with Dr. Bader. This procedure is for you if you have previously had a nose job, are unhappy with the final result, and are looking for either a touch-up or to reconstruct your nose.

Revision Rhinoplasty Risks

All cosmetic surgery procedures come with their own set of risks and revision rhinoplasty is no exception. In fact, since it is a reconstructive surgery used to correct a previous intervention, the risks can sometimes be higher. This is due to altered anatomy, scar tissue, or previous surgical trauma. Possible risks and side effects include:

  • Scarring
  • Infection
  • Asymmetry
  • Difficulty breathing

Even with the best surgeons, when it comes to medical intervention, nothing is guaranteed. However, with Dr. Bader’s exhaustive experience, expert training, and precise technique, he is one of the best revision rhinoplasty doctors not only in North Texas but across the USA.

Recovery From Revision Rhinoplasty

In most cases, recovery from a revision rhinoplasty procedure is quick and without complications. Just like the recovery period of your first rhinoplasty, the initial stages involve painful swelling and bruising that subsides within the first weeks. A splint is worn to hold your reshaped nose in place while it heals. Once removed you can return to work and normal life, monitoring your recovery with follow-up appointments with Dr. Bader. Your nose will be fully recovered 18 months post-surgery.

Trust Your Nose to Bader Facial Plastics

Dr. Bader understands how devastating it can feel to have undergone a rhinoplasty procedure only to recover with results that are not what you imagined or are worse than your original nose. A botched nose surgery can deeply damage your confidence and willingness to trust another facial plastic surgeon with future surgeries. Dr. Bader encourages anyone who feels this way to reach out and discuss their concerns directly with him. Double-board-certified in facial plastic surgery and an expert ENT surgeon, Dr. Bader is among a distinguished group of surgeons qualified to perform this procedure.
