Your Lip Lift Surgery in Plano

Knowing what to expect from your lip lift surgery is essential. While Dr. Bader customizes each procedure to suit your aesthetic goals, the basic outline of surgery looks like this:

Lip Lift Consultation

During your initial consultation, Dr. Bader will evaluate your facial anatomy, listen to your goals, and medical history, and determine if a lip lift is right for you. Pre-Surgery Preparation

Dr. Bader recommends quitting smoking and alcohol at least two weeks before surgery to avoid any complications. He may also request blood tests and other pre-surgery tests before the scheduled surgery.

Out-of-Town Patient Arrival

Patients traveling from outside of Plano must arrive 1-2 days before their scheduled surgery for pre-procedure tests.

Day Before Surgery

The day before your lip lift surgery, Dr. Bader will meet with you to discuss any last-minute questions and concerns about your personalized treatment plan.

Day of Surgery

Dr. Bader will perform the procedure in the Frisco-accredited surgical center which admits one patient at a time. A calming general anesthesia will be applied for your comfort. During the procedure, Dr. Bader will carefully excise a strip of skin between the base of your nostrils and a point just above your upper lip, based on your anatomy. After removing this skin flap, the lower portion of the incision, located just above the lip, will be sutured to the upper portion, just inside the nostrils, permanently lifting the upper lip. This procedure takes around an hour but can be combined with other procedures for a full facial rejuvenation.

Post-Surgery Follow-Up

It is normal to experience swelling and bruising after your procedure. The day after your lip lift, Dr. Bader will invite you for a post-surgery follow-up to go over any post-operative care instructions, prescribe pain medication if needed and to make sure that the lip is healing correctly.

Travel Post Surgery

Please leave at least 1 week post-surgery before hopping on a plane back home. This ensures that Dr. Bader can assess your initial recovery process in person to avoid any complications.

Social Readiness

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the healing process and can expect to return to their daily activities within a few days. Swelling and bruising typically subside within a week, revealing a more refined lip shape.
