Also known as submental liposuction, neck liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that effectively removes excess, localized fat deposits, restoring a more refined neck contour. This procedure offers a strategic focus on the neck, an area that is often hard to address with traditional weight loss methods and surgery. Small incisions are made and a cannula is used to gently suction out the fatty deposits. Double-board-certified Dr. Bader may pair liposuction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a neck lift, facelift, or chin augmentation to create a cohesive, harmonious final result.
To avoid complications, please don’t smoke for at least 2 weeks before your surgery and 10 days before, it is also recommended to avoid blood thinning medications such as aspirin. Dr. Bader will use this time to carry out any necessary tests.
Typically performed under local anesthesia, Dr. Bader’s neck liposuction procedure generally lasts between 40 minutes to 1 hour. Small incisions are made in the neck, through which a cannula is placed to draw out the adipose fat. Once the desired amount of fat has been removed, the wound is closed and dressings are applied.
You are a good candidate for neck liposuction if you have stubborn excess fat under the chin (submental fullness) that contributes to a "double chin" appearance. You may be bothered by the lack of definition between the jawline and neck despite consistent diet and exercise. Ideal candidates are in good health with good skin elasticity, as optimal results depend on the skin's ability to contract after fat removal.
If you have significant skin laxity, a neck lift or other skin-tightening procedures may be recommended in conjunction with neck liposuction to address sagging or loose skin.
Just like any form of cosmetic or plastic surgery, there are some risks involved. These may be:
When considering surgical intervention, especially on delicate areas such as the face and neck, choosing the right surgeon is critical to ensuring both safety and satisfying results. A facelift targets sagging skin, deep wrinkles, and loss of facial volume in the lower face and jawline. When combined with neck liposuction, the results can be significantly enhanced, providing both a more defined neck and a smoother, rejuvenated facial appearance.
A neck lift tightens loose, sagging skin and muscles in the neck area, addressing issues such as "turkey neck" or visible neck bands. When paired with neck liposuction, it provides a comprehensive solution for both fat removal and skin tightening.
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, corrects sagging upper eyelids and puffy under-eye bags. While it focuses on the eyes, combining this procedure with neck liposuction can enhance overall facial rejuvenation by improving two key areas of the face for a lifted appearance.
